Warner Bros. Idea Place
The tabula rasa - a blank slate. That's where ideas are born and put to paper; it was our challenge to find a way to translate this "birth of an idea" concept to the web in 2002. Every asset on this site, within this project, was hand drawn and animated to show a coming to life for each piece.
Every element of the site begins loose and sketchy and is animated to become refined, polished and final. This includes everything from the text navigation to each frame surrounding each piece of text. This project had more hours invested into it than any other for us at the time. It was a true labor of love.
Each page transition was one of 15 randomly selected unique maquette model animations clearing the screen for the next page to draw in.
The Idea Place was the brainchild of Ricky Mintz, then Creative Director at Warner Bros. They created and produced some of Hollywood's most memorable movie collateral including the eponymous Harry Potter posters from the first installment.
